How long does a defrosting plate take?

The defrost time can vary and the thawing rate is dependent on various factors, such as room temperature, room humidity, the type of food and its density/thickness. 

We have conducted numerous internal tests across a range of foods and I have included above ☝️ an overview of our results.

The Fast Thaw Defrosting tray is made from Aluminium alloy, which naturally is a highly thermally conductive material. To achieve the best results, it is recommended to ensure the food content has maximum contact with the defrosting tray surface. This helps to evenly draw out the cold from the food and dissipate it across the tray. In addition, the amount of food can impact the defrost rate as the bigger the item the longer it takes, as you max out the thermal conductivity of the fast thaw.

Tip: Run the tray under the hot tap for 30seconds at the start to help aid the thermal exchange between the tray and the frozen food.
