How to choose a quality herbal supplement?
A product with poor quality can cause the product to be poorly absorbed in the body, is not able to last the duration of its expiry, contain inconsistent amounts of the active ingredient (some may be more, less or even none of the active ingredients) or even contain contaminants or be adulterated with substances that may be harmful to the body.
All medicinal, traditional and supplement products in Malaysia must be registered with the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) before the product can be sold or marketed to consumers. This means that the products have gone through a screening process and will have a registration number beginning with “MAL” followed by 8 digits and also have a Meditag Hologram sticker (Meditag Checker App to check stickers).
Next, selecting a product from a reputable brand that is Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified can also help ensure the quality of the product.
Lastly, purchasing from a reputable source can help ensure that you are not purchasing a dubious/counterfeit product. When in doubt, contacting the company of the product can help verify its authenticity.
